The Providence City Council gave unanimous approval to a memorial resolution honoring Jenny DeLula, a longtime 5th Ward resident who died on Nov. 1, 2025, at the age of 90.
The clerk read the resolution into the record, noting DeLula's civic and business ties, her Lebanese heritage, and contributions to her parish and to local politics as a Democratic committee woman. The resolution directs that copies be transmitted to her family and to city and state officials.
Councilwoman Joanne Ryan, who identified herself as a family member by marriage, described DeLula as "a great lady" and "a big loss for the 5th Ward," and thanked colleagues for supporting the measure. The council approved the resolution by voice vote.
