Retiring trustee Paul Bronson honored with board resolution

The Oklahoma City Employee Retirement System Board of Trustees unanimously adopted a resolution Dec. 11 recognizing Paul Bronson for 38 years of service and his leadership as a trustee.

The resolution, read aloud by a trustee, notes that Bronson was first appointed to the board in 2006, was reelected multiple times and served as board chairman since July 2015. It also recited plan-level figures, saying the fund grew from $508,000,000 in 2006 to $896,000,000 in 2024 and that the plan has remained more than 90% funded while active pensioners increased from about 1,100 to 1,800.

Trustees moved and approved the resolution without opposition. One trustee said Bronson had been “conscientious and devoted” and praised his leadership during staff transitions. Another trustee said Bronson provided “onboarding, training, your counsel, and your advice” and called his mentorship meaningful.

Bronson responded, “I’ve had a great time serving on the board,” and thanked members for their service and support, saying he planned to attend meetings occasionally after his retirement. The resolution notes Bronson will retire from his city post as general services director effective Jan. 1, 2026.

The board’s action was ceremonial and did not change plan benefits or administration. Trustees discussed Bronson’s role in continuity during staff turnover and thanked him for his stewardship of the fund.
