Phil Conte of Studio Jade briefed the school committee on planned building envelope work at the school, including prioritized replacement of gymnasium window systems, select older window units elsewhere in the building, and skylights in the meeting room, lobby and gallery to improve thermal performance and natural light.
Conte said the packet provided to the committee contains the technical drawings intended for submission to the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) and that the team will attempt to break work into separate bid packages to make best use of remaining funding. Conte said bidding and procurement work would begin over the winter so materials could be ordered for spring/summer construction.
Superintendent/Presenter asked if there were questions; the committee accepted the report by motion and voice vote during the meeting. No contract award or construction start date was approved at this meeting; the presentation and subsequent RIDE submission start a review and procurement process that will return to the committee for approvals as required.
