Key Club overnight tabled for funding clarity; board clears softball trip and approves new graduation venue

Trustees sought clarity about whether the district would contribute; Rebecca and Jessica confirmed the district's usual practice is not to fund extracurricular trips and that costs are typically covered by the school, parents, or supporting organizations. One trustee moved to table the Key Club request until staff could clarify financial responsibilities, and the motion carried.

The board then approved a girls softball trip that will rely on parent self-transportation and required waivers; staff confirmed parent-signed waivers are part of the district's policy. Separately, Assistant Superintendent Jake Massey said Mountain View had outgrown its previous graduation venue and the ceremony will be held at the Post Falls campus on a different date; trustees approved the venue change without further discussion.

The board asked staff to return the Key Club application with explicit funding details and to confirm whether any district funds are expected before moving the request forward.
