Walton County has selected Heffley & Associates as its state lobbying firm following public presentations from three finalists. Procurement staff shortlisted three firms after an evaluation process and staged five‑minute presentations and Q&A with commissioners. Heffley & Associates scored highest in the board’s ranking and the commission voted to award the contract during the Nov. 24 meeting.

Procurement Manager Jason Cottrell said the RFQ sought year‑round Tallahassee representation, including session support and regular reporting. Commissioner questions centered on reporting cadence and face‑to‑face meetings during session and off season; the selected team agreed to monthly or quarterly reporting and frequent communications during session.

The award formalizes a contract to provide state advocacy services for the Board of County Commissioners and the Tourist Development Council. The board approved awarding the top‑ranked firm to Heffley & Associates by voice vote following score tabulation by the clerk.
