Students and staff from Plymouth Middle School presented at the Robbinsdale Area School Board’s Dec. 1 meeting to highlight student leadership work and to perform musical selections from Beauty and the Beast Junior.
Lisa Raymond, a school coordinator filling in for principal Tamiko Thomas (absent due to a medical issue), described the student leadership group and the principal student advisory team, which meet to promote school climate projects and student voice. Advisor Marina Day and students described initiatives including naming hallways, spirit weeks and a district anti‑bullying campaign in which 153 students and staff signed an anti‑bully pledge and received bracelets.
Students Yuli Caballero, Camille Gallardo, Kate Floyd Sherguson and Ava Paquin spoke about community, belonging and leadership; eighth graders Annabelle Rollinger, Tegan Chamberlain and Heath Lubin performed selections from Beauty and the Beast Junior and invited the public to the show scheduled to open Jan. 13 (with performances returning Jan. 15).
What it means: Board members praised the presentation and recognized student leadership and arts engagement as valuable parts of school culture. The district highlighted that more than 10% of the student body participates in the musical program.
