Caddo Parish Commission honors local nonprofits, undefeated Donnie Bickham softball team and community leaders

The commission then read and presented additional special resolutions en bloc for A Quiet Place in the Woods (a Keithville nonprofit serving children with disabilities), the Shreveport chapter of Zonta International (recognized for advocacy and the ‘‘Zonta Says NO’’ campaign), and Community Renewal International (recognizing Cedar Grove coordinators Trey and Jasmine Moore for Friendship House services). Brenda Watkins accepted the A Quiet Place resolution and listed staff and program offerings; Kimberly Aulds, president of the local Zonta chapter, accepted that group’s recognition and announced local awareness events (courthouse and airport lighting and a December 1 event). Trey and Jasmine Moore described daily programming at the Friendship House and the couple’s work supervising volunteers and supporting 20–30 children daily.
Commissioners used the presentations to urge public support for nonprofits, offered practical assistance (including volunteer and tree-planting offers), and observed a moment of silence to honor fallen Vivian police officer Mark Tyler Brock. The commission also recognized youth leaders from the Caddo Parish Youth Leadership Alliance and encouraged volunteerism in upcoming food distributions.
