The Caddo Parish Commission adopted a special resolution recognizing Calvin Iverson for intervening during a house fire and rescuing residents, the Commission said in a formal reading and presentation.
Parliamentarian Victor Thomas and other commissioners praised Iverson's "exceptional bravery" and presented him with a framed resolution. Thomas said the Commission wanted to publicize Iverson's actions so the community could honor his courage. Iverson described jumping fences, getting past dogs and pulling an individual from the burning home: "I grabbed him, pulled him out," he said during brief remarks.
The resolution affirms the Commission's appreciation and formally records Iverson's actions as exemplary community service. Several commissioners, including Grace Ann Blake and Stefan Jones, offered personal thanks and prayers; the Commission presented a plaque and public recognition during the meeting.
The resolution was adopted and presented at the front podium; family and community members joined Iverson for the recognition.
