Commissioners extend annual personal‑property listing period to March 16, 2026 for revaluation year

On Nov. 17 the Onslow County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution extending the county’s annual personal‑property listing period for the 2026 revaluation year.
Tax Administrator Kevin Turner advised the board that, in revaluation years, statute authorizes the commissioners by resolution to extend the listing period. The change moves the listing deadline from the typical Jan. 31 to March 16, 2026; Turner said this aims to reduce confusion for taxpayers who will receive both a listing notice and a revaluation notice and gives citizens extra time to review both documents and meet listing requirements. Turner reminded the public that a 10% late‑listing penalty applies after the extended deadline and that the property tax payment date itself did not change.
The board approved Resolution 25‑013 and authorized the chairman to sign the resolution.
