Council accepts LaPlante donations to create library memorial and school scholarship funds

Leominster — The City Council unanimously approved two trust-fund petitions on Nov. 24 after a finance committee recommendation.
David R. LaPlante submitted a letter proposing the establishment of (1) the Patricia LaPlante Memorial Trust Fund for the Leominster Public Library and (2) the Patricia and David LaPlante Scholarship Trust Fund for Leominster High School. Finance chair described the gifts as generous and recommended granting both petitions. Both items were approved by council vote (C-26 and C-27, each by 9-0).
The council noted the funds are public trust accounts that can accept additional donations and that Mr. LaPlante, a former city treasurer, will provide specific instructions for administration and funding to the city treasurer.
