Museum officials told the Capitol Preservation Board they have acquired the Mormon Meteor 3 and are advancing exhibit fabrication; shelving in the collections area is nearly complete and exhibit shipments to the North Capitol Building are scheduled to begin next month.
The presenter said the museum store will open before the galleries and that the museum team plans VIP events ahead of a public opening. Staff asked the board for direction on content for a large lobby video wall, showing screenshots of a 5‑minute loop (to be extended) and offering versions with and without textual captions. Board members favored limited historical/contextual text and suggested keeping quotes and poetry that add interpretive value, while asking production staff to slow some transitions and provide context for images to aid out‑of‑state visitors.
The board approved initial content for the ribbon‑cutting opening with the request that staff return in January with guidelines and additional material for final approval. Staff said they will prepare a recommended approval process and bring refined material back to the board.
