Saline County Health Department Director Jason Tiller gave an informational update covering activities from late August through November, highlighting vaccination clinics, staff training, maternal‑child outreach and preparedness planning.
Tiller said the department's annual flu clinic last October administered 240 shots, mostly via drive‑through service, and that the drive‑through format remains popular. "We gave 240 shots on that day," he said, and noted the clinic also serves as an annual mass‑dispensing exercise for staff preparedness.
He described staffing and training developments — new lab staff, public‑health leadership and foundation training for employees, engagement with Kansas Wesleyan and KU students, and certifications for Ryan White case managers — and highlighted maternal‑child outreach including a community baby shower cohosted with Salina Regional that drew roughly 80–100 mothers and families. Tiller also discussed regional preparedness exercises ahead of large events and encouraged residents who rely on electrically powered medical equipment to prepare for winter outages.
Tiller told commissioners there was a typo in the packet's budget figure and the corrected number was provided in his remarks; overall he said revenues versus expenses look better than the prior year. Commissioners expressed appreciation for staff outreach and outreach materials.
This was an informational presentation; no action was requested or taken.
