Trustees and district staff recognized student achievements in athletics and music during the meeting.
District presenter Mr. Gonzales recognized the San Benito High School boys varsity cross-country team for finishing second in the district and qualifying for regionals, and named student qualifiers. The board also honored students from the district orchestra programs who earned positions in the Texas Music Education Association (TMEA) Region 28 all-region orchestra; coaches and fine-arts staff, including director Eiradio Martinez, were acknowledged.
Earlier in the meeting, two Miller Jordan Middle School students — Aiden Trevino and Keani Mesa — participated in the meeting by leading the pledge and delivering the invocation, respectively.
In public comment, Mary Maney, a math teacher at San Benito High School, thanked the board and administration for recent policy movement on an employee holiday stipend. "I do thank you very much for putting up with me all year asking for a $500 stipend," Maney said, noting the broader appreciation among teachers and support staff for the stipend and district recognition of departmental contributions.
The recognitions were presented as part of the district's regular recognition agenda and were not the subject of separate board action beyond acknowledgment and thanks.
