Orland Park authorizes agreement to let Tinley Park use village police training facilities
Summary
The Village Board approved an intergovernmental agreement allowing the Village of Tinley Park to use Orland Park's police training range, force simulator, and training rooms. Trustees stressed training priority for Orland Park officers and said shared use offsets maintenance costs.
Trustee Lawrence moved and the board approved an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) authorizing the Village Manager to execute an agreement permitting Tinley Park to use Orland Park’s police training facility at 10609 W. 163rd Place, including the range, use‑of‑force simulator and EOC/training room. Trustees said the facility’s primary purpose is training Orland Park officers and that shared use by neighboring departments can help offset maintenance and operating expenses.
Trustees asked staff to ensure Orland Park’s training needs remain the first priority and that the chief and deputy chief manage scheduling. Several trustees welcomed the IGA as a cooperative step that leverages the village’s investment while retaining training priority for local officers. The motion carried by roll call.
