The Rice Lake Area School District Board of Education voted July 14 to adopt the state academic standards for the 2025—26 school year, fulfilling an annual statutory requirement.
Unidentified Presenter (S6), who introduced the item, said, "This action item is an annual item for you, per statute. The board must consider and approve the state standards for the year," and pointed trustees to links included in the meeting packet. A trustee moved to approve the standards and a second was recorded; the board approved the motion by voice vote.
The approval completes the board's routine, annual consideration of the standards that guide curriculum and instruction districtwide. Administrators told trustees no substantive changes were raised during the discussion; career and technical education standards were described as "designed to be integrated and embedded throughout courses." Trustees asked no follow-up policy questions during the deliberation.
The action will be reflected in administrative materials for the upcoming school year and is part of the district's required compliance steps before instruction begins under the new academic year.
The board's next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 11.
