Rice Lake board advances 2025–26 budget documents, designates pool fund and approves Boys and Girls Club lease amendment

The Rice Lake Area School District Board of Education on Oct. 13 accepted the finance committee’s recommendations to move a draft 2025–26 budget to the upcoming budget hearing and approved a set of related fiscal actions, including designating Fund 80 fund balance for future pool repairs and approving fee schedules intended to support pool operations.
The finance committee reported it met Oct. 9 and “approved it and it will be presented at our budget hearing,” the presenter said, adding that the district still expects to operate in the red despite recent federal and state funding additions. The committee described the resolution that will set the mill rate as a step that will be presented at the budget adoption hearing.
Committee members also approved pool fees and a “scholarship fee” schedule intended to provide discounted passes to qualifying residents; the update said these steps respond in part to compliance requirements tied to new market tax credits.
Separately, the board considered and approved a first amendment to the occupancy and use agreement with the Boys and Girls Club. The motion to approve the amendment was moved and seconded and the board approved the amendment by voice vote.
Votes and procedural items from the meeting included approval of the previous meeting minutes and the consent agenda; those routine approvals were announced by the presiding officer at the meeting. The board also approved a proclamation recognizing National School Lunch Week (Oct. 13–17, 2025).
The district’s budget presenter advised the board that Victor will present more detailed budget information at the budget hearing scheduled in the coming weeks, and emphasized that while recent state and federal funding additions reduced projected deficits, further decisions will be required.
The board adjourned regular business to convene a closed session later in the meeting for approval of closed-session minutes and to discuss an individual employee contract under Wisconsin law.
