Orland Park board approves special use for Valvoline quick-lube at 179th and Wolf

The Orland Park Village Board on Dec. 15 approved a special-use permit and a variance to allow a Valvoline Instant Oil Change at the corner near Aldi and Jewel, case no. 2025-0321. Trustee Lawler moved to adopt the ordinance granting the special use and the variance; the motion was seconded and passed by roll call.

Village planning staff said the single-tenant quick-lube station sits directly west of the Aldi and north of Jewel and requires relief only for the maintenance path around a pond. Staff and the applicant, Dan Elliott of Integris Development, told the board that stormwater facilities were constructed when Aldi developed the site and that the proposed Valvoline parcel is being cut out of the larger corner property. Elliott described the project as "pretty straightforward" and said the parcel will be purchased from Aldi and subdivided later.

Trustees asked whether the adjacent pond and nearby residences would be affected and sought clarity on landscaping and a berm between the project site and neighboring homes. Staff responded that the existing stormwater infrastructure meets requirements, there is a berm and proposed landscaping, and the developer will return to the planning commission next month for additional review.

The ordinance approved grants a special use for motor-vehicle services and a variance related to the detention-area maintenance path. The board voted in favor on a roll call; the motion passed.
