Wilson School District Superintendent Dr. Trickett announced the high school will be closed the following day because an emergency repair is required on the Lower House heating system.

Dr. Trickett said the replacement part would be installed during early morning hours and, because of uncertainty about how quickly the building could be heated and brought back to safe operating temperature, the district judged it safest to close the high school (both upper and lower houses) and the pool for the day. He said parents and staff had already begun receiving district communications.

"We felt as though it was in the best interest of our kids and our staff to close the high school tomorrow," he said, adding the district expects staff to continue their work and that the day will count as an instructional day so seniors will not need to make up the day.

Dr. Trickett said he hoped to restore normal operations quickly and would issue further updates on evening and afternoon activities scheduled in that campus once the repair status was clear.
