The judge explained one structural difference from state court: a municipal prosecutor is limited to about 91 days on a speedy-trial timeline compared with roughly 182 days in the state system, which the judge said leads to a much quicker municipal turnaround and, if a case cannot meet the municipal deadline, the case is dismissed.
