Board approves consent agenda, personnel actions and overnight trips; policies moved to first reading

The consent agenda included donations and grants: $450 from Tamara Rubinstein and Michael Greenberg for the Highlands Middle School spring musical; $776.70 from a George Washington girls tennis fundraiser for a US Open trip; a $3,000 Friends of the White Plains Public Schools grant for an outdoor classroom at Post Road for fifth graders; a $4,300 donation from Fred Singleton to support cross-country transportation; 40 pairs of sneakers donated by Nordstrom for Church Street School; and three PTA grants for middle-school t-shirts and an Indian dance-troupe program scheduled for Jan. 21, 2026.
Individual action items approved included designation of acting principals for short-term student-discipline matters (pursuant to Section 3214 of the New York State Education Law), approval of an extension of paid absence per the CSCA contract for employees injured in the line of duty, amendments to the inventory of teacher-assistant and aide positions, authorization for the board president and superintendent to execute a settlement and general release with a named employee (document previously reviewed by the board), an extension of the administrative appointment for Joseph Spiro through June 30 at a specified per-diem rate, and approvals of multiple overnight student trips (White Plains High School varsity softball spring training in Orlando, March 26–April 2, 2026; boys varsity basketball trip to Springfield, MA, Jan. 16–18, 2026; and other approved overnight field trips as listed on the agenda).
The board received first readings of policy revisions (policy numbers listed on the agenda) based on NISBA templates; trustees said the policy committee reviewed the language and that formal votes will be scheduled for December. Committee reports included a finance update on the district—s conservative investment portfolio and a summary of a Moody—s visit conducted ahead of planned bond issuance; the district told trustees it currently carries an Aa1 rating, according to the finance committee report.
Superintendent and board members also announced external grant awards enabling participation in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and highlighted student awards from a native-plant Olympics. The meeting adjourned after a motion and second by voice vote.
