The Woodford County Fiscal Court took several formal actions during its meeting, adopting an ordinance, approving budgets and contracts, and making appointments.
Ordinance 2025‑17 The court approved the second reading of Ordinance 2025‑17 at the request of the Woodford County Fire Chief. County Attorney summarized the ordinance as adopting Kentucky fire prevention code and enforcement authority to enable the fire protection district to serve as deputy fire marshals and perform building inspections. The county attorney said fines under the ordinance could be up to $1,000 and noted the ordinance must be published in summary form within 30 days.
Budgets, claims and orders The Budget & Finance Committee recommended approval of the 2026 budgets for the county clerk's office and the sheriff's office; the full court approved those budgets and associated orders unanimously. The court also approved claims to Gov Connections ($2,537.22) and 3 SI Security Systems Inc. ($1,200) paid from asset forfeiture funds.
Contracts and personnel Maintenance Director Rick Wade requested a two‑year preventive maintenance agreement for county generators with Nixon Power covering the detention center, EMS stations and the senior citizens center. The court authorized a two‑year contract in the amount of $14,140 and authorized the judge executive to sign the agreement.
Director Sherry McDaniel recommended a two‑year Rumpke contract extension on Option B (flat monthly rate) to avoid quarterly fuel charge volatility. Option B was described as $24.50 per month the first year and $25.50 the second year with no fuel surcharge; the court approved Option B.
The court authorized advertising and beginning the hiring process for an animal care and control officer and appointed Scott Dean as interim road supervisor for up to three months while the county conducts a hiring process for a permanent road supervisor/engineer.
Appointments, leases and grants The court appointed Karen Eisberg to a four‑year term on the Woodford County Planning Commission, effective Jan. 1. The court approved a one‑year lease agreement with the Historical Society to relocate the Crittenden Cabin to Woodford County Park, contingent on county attorney review and inserting insurance limits and acreage into the agreement.
Waterline bids and KPDI grant amendment Bids for the Millville Waterline project were opened the same day; the court agreed to either approve the selected bid by email or act at a special bill pay meeting on Dec. 19 so the project may move forward. The court also approved an amendment to the KPDI grant agreement involving the EDA, the State Property and Buildings Commission, Woodford County and the City of Versailles for round 2 KPDI funds.
Budget amendment The court completed a second and final reading of Budget Amendment No. 4 for FY25‑26, increasing receipts and appropriations by $1,110,877 related to Paynes Depot (FD‑15) funds; as a second reading it will be published in summary form within 30 days.
Legal notice County Attorney informed the court a lawsuit had been filed related to the Scotts Ferry East zone change denial; the suit names the planning commission and the fiscal court and will be handled through the county's attorneys.
The meeting closed with community announcements and the court adjourned.
