Lisa Schuyler, Health Promotion Supervisor with Clatsop County Public Health, told the Board of Commissioners that the Human Services Advisory Council conducted an open recruitment to fill a vacancy and is recommending applicant Nicholas Bowling to join the nine‑member council as the District 3 representative.
Schuyler said the council had been operating with eight members after a September vacancy and, following its review, forwarded Bowling’s name to the board for consideration. Chair Quela and commissioners thanked Schuyler for the brief presentation. No formal motion or vote to appoint Bowling was recorded during the work session; staff did not identify a subsequent meeting date for a formal appointment vote during the discussion.
Why it matters: The Human Services Advisory Council advises county health staff and commissioners on community human services needs and priorities. Filling the District 3 seat will restore the council to its full nine‑member complement and is intended to improve representation on advisory deliberations.
Next steps: The recommendation was entered at a work session; the board may consider formal appointment or confirmation at a future regular meeting.
