The Plan Commission of the City of West Bend on Nov. 18 approved a certified survey map (CSM) that divides property at 400 South University Drive into two lots and one outlot, with conditions requiring minor technical corrections before recording and acceptance of identified utilities and easements by the Common Council.
The CSM covers city- and county-owned land on the east and west sides of South University Drive. Jim, the project representative, told commissioners that Lot 1 contains the main building of the old university, Lot 2 is open space east of University Drive and Outlot 1 at the north end includes park amenities and the main driveway providing access to the park. He said the CSM also identifies the site’s water tower, water line and an access easement.
"We're looking at creating this CSM for future sale and redevelopment," Jim said, and added, "There are a couple of minor technical revisions that need to be done prior to recording." The commission approved the map subject to those corrections and to the Common Council formally accepting the utilities and easements shown on the survey.
A motion to approve the survey map was made and seconded; the body voted vocally in favor and the motion carried. The commission did not record a roll-call vote in the transcript; the approval was recorded by a vocal "Aye." The next procedural step is Common Council review and acceptance of the utilities and easements and correction of the technical items before the CSM is recorded.
Meeting materials identified easements and utilities on the parcel; the commission requested that staff ensure those easements are documented correctly prior to recordation. No timetable for council action or recording was provided in the meeting transcript.
