Superintendent reviews district programs; board approves personnel recommendations
Summary
Superintendent Christopher highlighted American Education Week, internship launches and student advisory meetings; student reps reported school activities. The board approved personnel recommendations and the consent agenda, and recognized a departing director.
Superintendent Dr. Christopher used his monthly report to summarize recent district activity, community partnerships and planning items.
Dr. Christopher said the district marked American Education Week and hunger and homelessness awareness week with classroom activities and food drives, and that Veterans Day assemblies honored more than 50 service members connected to students. He also described a Career Compass luncheon with local business partners to launch an internship initiative for high-school seniors and the first superintendent advisory council meeting with students to discuss topics such as cell-phone policies and use of new student spaces.
Student representatives from East and Henderson described food drives, theater and athletics accomplishments. One Henderson student said the boys soccer team recently reached the state championships and student clubs raised funds for scholarships and charities.
The board then heard the monthly personnel report from HR, which noted the retirement of Maria Beltran after 10 years and a correction noting Jessica Knox is a teacher at East (not Henderson). The board moved to approve the 11/24/2025 personnel recommendations and the motion carried.
Later, the board approved the consent agenda and several procedural minutes items. The meeting closed with public appreciation remarks for a departing director and logistical notes that the reorganization meeting will be scheduled after county election certification on Dec. 5, with a full board meeting set for Dec. 15.
