Parks staff updates: GrindLine borings, Jan. 10 community meeting, LRC and ice-rink preparations

At the Nov. 20 meeting, parks staff provided several operational updates.
Ryan (Speaker 7) said GrindLine contracted for soil borings earlier in the week and that the first boring was successful; he said staff are awaiting results on remaining borings. He announced a community meeting with GrindLine scheduled for Jan. 10 to discuss the new skate-park design and said staff will post information on social media ahead of that meeting.
Ryan also reported progress at the Library Recreation Center (LRC): lobby flooring replacement is complete, a synthetic wood floor in Studio Room 2 is installed, and work to replace that studio’s floor with true wooden flooring is scheduled to begin. He described moving a dance program back into the LRC and noted a mural and a city-themed Parks and Recreation logo painted by Jeff Skomski will be displayed in the LRC lobby.
On seasonal operations, Ryan said staff are preparing to staff the ice rink and run swim lessons and that a lifeguard course finishes this weekend; he expressed optimism about having sufficient staff for winter recreation programs.
Staff asked commissioners to note these operational updates; no formal motions were required.
