The Lawrenceburg Utility Board on Dec. 15 authorized procurement steps for significant electrical system work and approved two technical studies.
Utility Director Rob Schneider presented an IMPA proposal for an arc‑flash update study to evaluate personal protective equipment ratings and crew safety; the board authorized the study not to exceed $11,500. Director Schneider said the city was behind schedule on the study and emphasized the safety purpose.
On Walker Substation improvements, staff said engineering was approved under the 2025 budget and presented a remaining estimated total value of $2,257,500 for the project. The board authorized staff to solicit bids for equipment only—specifically circuit breakers (estimated $110,000) and switches (estimated $30,000)—with construction labor and final contract awards to be returned for separate approval after specifications and equipment selections are made. Board members stressed that tonight’s authorization covers parts only and that higher final costs would come back for approval.
The board also approved a system load‑growth and system valuation study (EMPA) not to exceed $24,500 to assess capacity, asset condition and depreciation estimates for budgeting and capital planning.
Votes recorded in the transcript show these items were approved by voice vote; the utility board also approved routine claims and payroll certification motions and adjourned.
