The West Fargo City Commission agreed to award the contract for the A Street West multi‑use path (Project No. 6063) to Northern Improvement Company following a bid opening. City Engineer Jerry Wallace reported two responsive bidders and a low bid of $509,985.30 from Northern Improvement Company, which was 24.1% below the engineer's estimate. Wallace recommended concurring with NDDOT's recommendation to accept the low bid and award the contract.
During discussion Commissioner Anderson asked how revenues would be drawn to pay for the project. Wallace said the city was awarded $412,731.10 in grant funding from various sources and the remaining costs will come from the capital improvement sales tax fund; he confirmed there would be no special assessments for this project.
A motion to approve the contract award was made, seconded and approved by the commission. The action directs staff to proceed with contract finalization consistent with NDDOT and city procurement procedures.
