HUBBARDSTON, Mass. — The Select Board voted Monday to appoint Dave Horn as an alternate building inspector through June 2026, providing backup inspection coverage during interim building commissioner Robert Duffy’s upcoming medical leave.
A board member moved to appoint Horn and the motion was seconded; the board approved the appointment by voice vote. Board members explained the town maintains two roles — a building commissioner and an alternate inspector — so inspections continue if one person is unavailable.
Board members said the alternate role is intended to provide continuity for residents with active permits. The pay for Horn’s alternate work was cited in discussion as $50 an hour. Members asked that Nate (administrative staff) send a formal confirmation letter to Horn documenting the appointment and rate.
The discussion noted Horn’s prior recent involvement and familiarity with ongoing inspections. The board also agreed the alternate appointment helps cover short-term absences and provides continuity while recruitment for permanent coverage continues.
The meeting record shows the appointment motion was made and passed without a roll-call breakdown of individual votes.
