City department staff told the Washington City Council on Nov. 17 that an airport hangar built in 2012 has leaking panels and insulation damage and recommended emergency repairs before winter.
Staff said the manufacturer agreed to supply 20 replacement panels under warranty and that bids to replace the damaged panels and insulation were limited. "We did get 1 bid from CV for just under 13,000 to replace the 20 damaged panels and the insulation," a department head said, recommending the city accept that bid to address tenant concerns and prevent further damage.
Council members moved and seconded a motion to approve the emergency repair; the motion passed by voice vote. Staff said the panels had been delivered and installation would proceed as soon as contractors and schedule permit.
The city will replace insulation along with the panels; staff said the repair is meant as a near-term fix to protect tenancy and assets through winter weather. A follow-up report on installation completion and any warranty documentation will be filed with the council.
