The Victorville City Council on Nov. 18 considered an appointment to a vacant seat on the Planning Commission but the motion to appoint Terrence Stone failed on a 2–2 tie.
Staff said the vacancy resulted from Planning Commission Chair Kurth moving out of the city. The clerk read the recommendation that Terrence Stone be appointed as recommended by the mayor; Stone answered council questions about his work with the Cooperative Economic Empowerment Movement (SEAM) and his views on land‑use regulation flexibility.
During the vote, Councilmember Godin voted No, Councilmember Irving voted Yes, Mayor Pro Tem Herriman voted No and Mayor Becerra voted Yes, producing a tie and causing the motion to fail. The council took no further action on the vacancy at the meeting.
Stone described his interest in serving and his experience with county economic development and equity element work. The council did not appoint an alternate candidate; the seat remains vacant.
