Craycraft said the update is intended to clarify rules, reduce duplicate definitions and make the code easier for staff and applicants to use. “The purpose of the update is to align with current state law…and to reflect our comprehensive plan,” Craycraft said during her presentation.

The code also adds tools to encourage walkability and ‘‘missing‑middle’’ housing and sets clearer procedures for administrative approvals.
