A city staff member introduced the proposal describing Deputy Ryan Klinkenbroomer as an eight-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department who was killed in the line of duty near the stretch of Avenue Q the council renamed to honor his service. Family members and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department representatives addressed the council in support of the resolution, thanking residents and the city for their ongoing support and memorial efforts.
Speakers at the council meeting described the naming as part of ensuring the deputy's sacrifice is remembered by anyone who drives down that street. The sheriff's office official present thanked the council and the community for their support and said the department remains committed to serving Palmdale.
The council followed the presentation with a short photo opportunity and logistical directions for sign installation. The council did not record further debate about the resolution in the public record before adopting it.
The council later went into closed session on separate matters. The renaming action will be implemented through city staff notifications and the installation of street signs authorized by the resolution.
