Parish announces animal-control bids, airport hangars and water/sewer updates

On animal control, administration said: "The animal control facility will be advertised for bids on December 10. A pre bid meeting will be held on December 16, and the bids are due on 01/15/2026." The presentation indicated the plan uses two existing buildings together with a new facility to the right of the site plan and described the new building as "a very nice facility." The council did not vote on the procurement at this meeting; the announcement establishes the procurement timeline and a Dec. 16 pre-bid meeting.
Airport and aviation: parish administration said a planned 190-by-100-foot hangar expansion and aircraft parking apron came in under budget at $2,000,000 and is funded through FAA and DOTD aviation grants. "Once complete, it's expected to be fully covered by grant funding at no cost to the airport authority," administration said. The Scribe Box hangar project is nearing substantial completion; two of the hangars already have tenants and negotiation is underway on leasing the third.
Water and sewer updates: Water Well No.5 is nearing substantial completion and is expected to begin delivering water by January; the project includes a triplex booster pump station to manage pressure changes. The Highway 90 sewer improvements project is about 40% complete, with both lift stations and the force main installed; crews are working on gravity system components to support future property tie-ins along the corridor. The UL lift station received a notice to proceed on Dec. 8 with an expected completion by June 2026.
Other notices: parish staff reminded residents to sign up for Iberia PINS (the parish information notification system) and highlighted current parish job openings and the parish website for contact and application details.
Next steps: the parish will proceed with the advertising and bidding schedule for the animal-control project and continue construction and leasing steps on airport hangars and sewer/water projects. Administration indicated it will return to council with contracting and leasing updates as projects progress.
