Representatives from No Problem Raceway told the Assumption Parish Police Jury on Nov. 25 they have a letter of intent from the National Hot Rod Association to host a national event and sought parish assistance with roads, signage and infrastructure.
Nelson Hoyos, the track’s motorsports director, said the facility has invested roughly $2.5 million in upgrades over five years and currently hosts multiple regional NHRA events. The track said it needs additional parking, road repairs and better signage to safely accommodate large rigs and up to tens of thousands of visitors for a potential national event. Organizers said that with the event and associated tourism activity the broader economic impact could be substantial, and they have pursued grant opportunities including DRA funding.
Jurors discussed DOTD timelines for Highway 996 improvements and options for interim repairs; several jurors recommended pursuing state and federal grant avenues and coordinating a plan to address immediate safety concerns ahead of larger projects.
What happens next: Track owners will continue to pursue grants and the parish will coordinate with DOTD and planning staff to identify short- and long-term infrastructure solutions.
