Jury greenlights several drainage allocations and project transfers

At its Nov. 25 meeting the Assumption Parish Police Jury’s Drainage Committee received updates on multiple flood-control projects and approved several funding actions.
Engineers reported that contractor Branco had mobilized to the Lord/Wilbur drainage site and would begin clearing soon; Maury drainage work was scaled to pump improvements with plans to rebid once documents are finalized. The committee confirmed it will proceed with diesel-driven pump upgrades while keeping existing pump size and one electric maintenance pump for redundancy.
On motions, the jury approved $1,000 allocations each to drainage districts for projects 93217, 93218 and 93219 (levy maintenance), an estimated $9,500 for the Belt Road drainage project, and a $404,200 transfer from project 92886 to pay labor for sweeping the Gerald Crochet levy. The jury also approved a $2,445 allocation for Jefferson Street after a motion to deviate was granted.
Committee members said project closeout numbers are still being reconciled and that some figures in the packet reflect only paid invoices; outstanding commitments may change remaining balances. Officials asked staff to produce a clarified, up-to-date ledger of drainage project obligations.
What happens next: Staff will provide updated expense reconciliations for the committee and proceed with awarded work under the contract schedule.
