Schererville adopts annual salary ordinance with 3% increase and $50 holiday gift for employees

The Schererville Town Council approved its annual salary ordinance Dec. 10, authorizing a 3% across-the-board increase for town employees and several minor adjustments requested by department heads.

Town manager Jim Gorman told council the ordinance is reviewed each year and includes the 3% raise and a few position-specific changes. Council voted to adopt the salary ordinance (motion carried 5–0).

Council also approved Ordinance 2013C, an amendment authorizing a one-time $50 holiday gift payment to town employees (excluding elected officials) as an appreciation payment; the council adopted the amendment by voice vote.

Council members did not discuss specific department-by-department budget offsets at length during the meeting; staff will reflect the changes in the town’s 2026 payroll and budget documents.
