The Town Council approved an application to rezone roughly 0.23 acres at 1 View Street from Community Shopping to R-7 residential during its Dec. 9 meeting.
The request was presented as a site-specific alignment of zoning with the town’s future land use map; staff said the area’s land use designation is residential and that the rezoning would reduce potential disruptive commercial uses in the neighborhood. The applicant was identified as Rob Weed acting for property owner RHW Investments LLC (Ricky Hurley).
Staff reported that the planning board reviewed the request on Oct. 7 and unanimously recommended approval (6–0) and that no public comments or objections were received at the council public hearing. Councilmember Phil (mover) read findings that the rezoning is reasonable, in the public interest, consistent with the comprehensive plan, and promotes growth in areas with existing services; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Next steps: the ordinance will be recorded and the zoning map updated to reflect the new R-7 designation for the site.
