Tiburon council elects Wallner mayor, names Isaac Niphar vice mayor; announces new planning director

The Tiburon Town Council voted Dec. 3 to elect Vice Mayor Wallner as mayor and Council member Isaac Niphar as vice mayor.
The council first recognized outgoing Mayor Thier, who thanked colleagues and staff and highlighted the year’s work: responding to wildfires, hosting a regional fire forum, advancing climate goals, adopting green building reach codes, and banning the sale of tobacco products. "Being mayor this year was a great, fun opportunity," Thier said, listing those accomplishments as reasons she was grateful to colleagues and staff.
Vice Mayor Wallner’s nomination for mayor was seconded and approved by roll-call vote; Wallner gave brief remarks listing three priorities for the coming year: traffic solutions, implementing the parks master plan and continuing sustainability and climate-action work. He also noted broadband as an additional priority.
Council then nominated and unanimously approved Isaac Niphar for vice mayor. Niphar thanked colleagues and said he looked forward to learning from council members with prior mayoral experience.
In reports, staff announced the hiring of Sherry Meads as the new community development director, who is scheduled to start Monday; interim director Neil Toft said he will overlap to assist Ms. Meads in transition. The meeting then adjourned.
