Trophy Club EDC reaffirms roles, elects officers for coming year

The Town of Trophy Club Economic Development Corporation met Nov. 20 and reviewed the board—s responsibilities before electing officers for the coming year. Speaker 1, the meeting—s staff presenter, opened with a yearly refresher on the EDC—s authority "to promote, assist, and enhance economic development within the town of Trophy Club," manage corporate property and funds, prepare an annual budget and operate under the articles of incorporation and bylaws.

The board handled several procedural items early in the meeting. Speaker 3 moved to approve minutes from a Sept. 22 joint council/EDC session and Oct. 15, 2025; the motion was seconded and approved. The body then nominated and voted on officer positions. Speaker 3 nominated Terry Addington for president (seconded by Speaker 4); the chair declared the motion passed. A subsequent vote filled the vice-presidency, and James was nominated and appointed as board secretary. The town—s finance director was confirmed to serve as treasurer and the town secretary will serve as assistant secretary.

The presenter emphasized routine governance duties: the president presides and signs documents going to the town council; the vice president acts in the president—s absence; the treasurer (typically a town staff finance director) oversees funds and accounting; and the board must submit a proposed budget to the finance department at least 60 days before the fiscal year. The EDC meets regularly — typically monthly — and may hold additional meetings when necessary.

Action items from the meeting included formal approval of minutes and the set of officer appointments; these measures were recorded as passed during the meeting. The board adjourned at 6:44 p.m.

The EDC—s next meeting will address additional items on the December agenda, including follow-up work on incentives and the small area plan.
