Tredyffrin-Easttown board honors two departing members; students and staff recognized

At its Nov. 24 meeting the Tredyffrin-Easttown School Board honored retiring members Dr. Yolanda Allen and Susan Audrain, highlighted student achievements across the district and displayed Beaumont Elementary artwork. The board paused for a five-minute recess after presentations.
The Tredyffrin-Easttown School Board on Nov. 24 recognized two departing directors for four years of service and highlighted student and staff accomplishments across the district.
President Kantorsik opened a special recognition for Dr. Yolanda Allen, noting Allen’s roles on the public-information, finance and policy committees and her leadership of the ad hoc committee that recommended the district’s new elementary-school name, Bear Hill Elementary School. Dr. Roberta Hatinsky said Allen oversaw a naming process that winnowed 678 suggestions to a final slate and generated high community participation. Dr. Allen told the board she had run ‘‘because I wanted every kid to feel like they belong in this community’’ and thanked residents for allowing her to serve.
The board also recognized Susan Audrain, who served on education, policy, facilities and safety committees and chaired an ad hoc legislative committee. Vice President Susan Tidi credited Audrain’s nursing background for helping develop a cardiac emergency response program and praised her work on middle-school schedule redesign and facility planning. Audrain said serving the district had been ‘‘a joy and a privilege’’ and highlighted projects including accessible playgrounds, athletic-field construction and planning for full-day kindergarten and a sixth elementary school.
Between the recognitions the board showcased student artwork from Beaumont Elementary and several school-based honors read by Special Education Supervisor Lisa Bridal Snyder. Announcements included Conestoga High School’s girls golf team capturing the PIAA 3A state championship, a district canned-food drive that collected 3,888 items, and TESD purchasing supervisor Shanette Bernard earning certification from the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials (PASBO).
Dr. Kim Morris read certificates from state Sen. Carolyn Comitta and state Rep. Melissa Shusterman recognizing Allen and Audrain’s service. The board paused five minutes following the presentations before resuming regular business.
