The select board voted to appoint Laura Hajjar as Brentwood’s welfare director for a three‑year term, with the end date recorded as June 30, 2029. Hajjar, who has been serving in an interim/volunteer capacity, told the board she has logged roughly 36 hours since August setting up documents, resources and responding to casework and said the proposed $2,700 stipend is acceptable for the current expected workload.

Board members discussed stipend history, the budget‑committee recommended number and the need for periodic activity reporting. A board member asked for quarterly summaries of work performed before checks are sent; Hajjar said she has been sharing information with staff and had no objection to providing periodic reports.

The board moved and seconded a motion to appoint Hajjar; the motion passed and the board also voted to reopen the budget to align the select‑board numbers with the budget committee’s approved figure.
