District rolls out web redesign, new professional development and testing schedule

Chief Academic Officer Sandra LaRose told the committee that the district's new web design launched today; webmasters are restoring content over the next several days and high-school pages will display additional athletics and club information. "We just wanted to update all of you... it actually launched today," LaRose said.
Tanya Cook, supervisor of elementary education, described a four‑session DIBELS (early literacy screener) boot camp for elementary principals led by Amanda Callahan at Grand Caillou (Grand Cayeux) Elementary. Sessions are 90 minutes each and include classroom walkthroughs, action‑plan work and progress‑monitoring to help principals translate assessment data into instructional practice.
Matthew Hodgson (supervisor of middle and junior high education) said the district is holding three assistant‑principal meetings this year that will provide professional development and give staff direct observation of future leaders. Monica Brose (supervisor of assessment and accountability) reported the district completed eighth‑grade preACT testing and expects results after the Thanksgiving break; LEAP high‑school retesting is scheduled Dec. 1–19.
Cheryl Degree (supervisor of federal programs) announced the teacher/principal/support worker of the year banquet will be Dec. 9 at the Municipal Auditorium, with doors opening at 5:00 p.m. The committee heard these departmental updates and thanked staff for the initiatives.
