Board adopts revisions to several district policies including cameras in special education and disciplinary code
Summary
The board approved committee recommendations to revise policy files on cameras in special education classrooms, equal opportunity employment, equal educational opportunities, discipline, bullying and hazing, and updates to the student code of conduct.
The Education Technology and Policy committee presented multiple policy revisions that the board adopted on Dec. 2.
The board approved revised policy G-2.4 (cameras in special education classrooms) after a committee review. The board also approved revised policies on equal opportunity employment (policy F-2), equal educational opportunities (policy H-1), discipline (H-3.5), and bullying and hazing (H-3.3). Revisions to the student code of conduct and parent/family engagement (G-9.4 and related sections) were also approved. Motions for each item were moved, seconded, received no public comment, and passed by voice vote.
Board members noted the items had been discussed in committee and in detail prior to full board consideration; no amendments were recorded during the board meeting. The transcript shows the committee recommended each revision and the board approved them as a package during the Education Technology & Policy section of the meeting.
