Beaumont — The City Council approved the city's recommended Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program for fiscal year 2026–27 and authorized the city manager to complete required documentation with Riverside County.

Staff reported an estimated allocation of $147,680 from HUD via the county cooperative agreement. Two local nonprofit applicants requested funding: Boys & Girls Club (requested $50,000 for Camp Kids) and Voices for Children (requested $10,000 to support court-appointed special advocates). Staff recommended funding the nonprofit requests within the allowable 15% allocation and reserving remaining funds for a pedestrian safety public-improvement project (sidewalks, curb and gutter repairs) estimated at about $125,528.

Two in-person speakers — a Voices for Children representative and Megan Grisham, chief operating officer for Boys & Girls Club of the San Gorgonio Pass — described program impacts and urged funding. Voices for Children said it served 16 Beaumont children this fiscal year at a cost of nearly $2,000 per child.

Council approved the CDBG allocations and authorized the city manager to execute the agreement and return required documentation to Riverside County.
