County reports 29 private-road applications; public commenter raises concerns about property clearance and small-business displacement

During the public-comment period Raymond Smith asked whether Sumter County is obtaining ownership of private roads and noted Jimmy Street is on the list of requests. Smith also said a property at or near 1650 South Vineyard (referenced earlier in the meeting) is slated for demolition and clearing at county expense and expressed concern that such actions could close small businesses; he urged assistance to help relocate or secure alternative property.
Mixon said staff would check the records and follow up with the public works outreach plan in December.
