Resident tells Colleton County Council local roads are dangerous; chair points to state DOT authority

Felicia Johnson described near‑misses, a recent injury and ongoing risks to children and cyclists in her neighborhood, saying posted speeds of 45 mph were inappropriate for a residential area and recommending lower limits or other measures. "They don't respect even the little side road anymore... 45, that's a residential area... They need to go to 25," she said.
The council typically does not respond during public comment, and the chair told Johnson the county had previously discussed those concerns and provided her with contact information for follow‑up. The chair explained that the State Department of Transportation (state DOT) has authority over the roads Johnson named and that county staff would remain in contact to assist where possible.
