Council introduces a set of ordinances including rec-district meeting change, speed-limit reduction and wetland delineation requirement

On Nov. 24 the Tangipahoa Parish Council introduced several ordinances for public hearing on Dec. 8 and for further consideration:
- Ordinance 25-37: Amend and enact chapter 38 (special districts) to change Recreation District No. 3 (town of Amite) meeting location and date to the Florida Parishes Arena on the second Tuesday of the month beginning in 2026. The council adopted the ordinance at this meeting.
- Intro: An ordinance to lower the speed limit to 25 mph on Lee's Lane in District 5 (public hearing set for Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m.).
- Ordinance 25-40: Adopting the 2026 operating budget for the Tangipahoa Parish Library Board of Control; introduced and voted to move forward.
- Ordinance 25-41: Amend chapter 36 to revise allowable plants for stormwater management areas (recommended by the DRC), with any modifications approved by the TRC.
- Ordinance 25-42: Amend chapter 36 (planning and development) to replace the phrase 'wetlands jurisdictional determination' with a requirement that wetland delineation be performed by an environmental specialist (recommended by the DRC).
Each introduction was moved, seconded and carried on roll-call votes recorded as 9-0. The council noted these come from DRC recommendations where applicable and will be scheduled for public hearings on Dec. 8.
