Commission postpones third‑quarter budget review and flags heavy legislative session ahead

A commissioner asked the Strafford County Commission to delay its review of the third-quarter budget Thursday, saying newly received information required adjustments, and the panel agreed to postpone the item until staff could update the report and post it online.
"I just received some additional information that I need to make a couple of adjustments, so what you'd if you were to approve it, it wouldn't be accurate," said the speaker the chair identified in the meeting as "Mister Bauch," who asked that the review be delayed. The speaker said the revised report would be sent to the delegation and posted on the county website when completed.
Earlier in the meeting the chair told commissioners that roughly "1,400 bills" had been filed so far in the legislative session, but noted that the bill text had not yet been published. The chair encouraged commissioners to join the Association of Counties' weekly legislative committee calls on Fridays at 1 p.m. to monitor measures that affect county government.
The chair also announced that the commission typically holds an annual employee-and-tenant pizza event during the holiday season and said the gathering is being scheduled for Dec. 18, the commission's usual Thursday meeting date. No public votes or policy adoptions on the budget or legislative items were taken at the public meeting; the session later moved to a non-public session for personnel and contract negotiations.
