Library board amends 2026 calendar, declines nominating committee and withdraws parade participation

At its Nov. 25 meeting the Oconee County Public Library Board approved the draft 2026 meeting calendar with one amendment: staff was tasked to consult the county clerk, Jennifer Adams, to identify an alternate November date so the board does not meet the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
Trustees also discussed the nomination process for January officer elections and decided not to form a separate ad hoc nominating committee; instead, they will perform nominations at the January meeting, the same process used previously. The board recorded the motion and approved that approach.
An item to close the Westminster branch early on Dec. 5 so staff could participate in the Westminster Christmas parade was withdrawn because the library could not commit sufficient staffing for walkers along the parade route; the bookmobile will still participate and one Westminster staff member is expected to ride along.
The meeting ended without an executive session; a motion to adjourn carried and the board closed the session with plan for the director to implement calendar changes and follow up on parade logistics and staffing.
