CARSON CITY — The State of Nevada Board of Examiners on Nov. 12 approved a $185,000 settlement payment to claimant Steven Johnson and recommended that the Interim Finance Committee allocate $1,333,148 from contingency funds to replenish state special education services.
The Office of the Attorney General presented the claimant payment request under NRS 41.036. Board members had no questions and approved the settlement by voice vote.
The Department of Education requested a recommendation to the Interim Finance Committee under NRS 353.268 for an allocation of $1,333,148 to replenish the state special education services account. The board approved forwarding that recommendation.
The approvals were procedural votes to advance the payment and the allocation recommendation; implementation and execution are handled by the respective agencies and the Interim Finance Committee.
